Automatically close the previous billing period when a new one is created

Today, when a new billing period is created, the previous one stays open until it’s closed manually on each project. With more than one billing period open, the budget defaults to the older one, so changes assigned to the newer period don’t show up there. It would be great to have an option to automatically close the previous billing period when a new one is created, so there’s only one open period per project and nobody has to go into each job to close it.
